Meditation is the only way you can grow.. because when you meditate, you are in silence. You are in thoughtless awareness. Then
the growth of awareness takes place.
- Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi quietly transformed lives. For more than forty years, she traveled internationally, offering free public lectures and the experience of self-realization to all, regardless of race, religion or circumstance. From the time she introduced the technique of Sahaja Yoga in 1970, Shri Mataji was almost constantly on the move - giving public programs, being interviewed by the media, speaking at international conferences and seminars, establishing non-governmental organizations. She enabled people to pass this valuable experience on to others and taught them the meditation technique necessary to sustain it, known as Sahaja Yoga.
Shri Mataji used the process of awakening the Kundalini (inner energy) as the foundation of Sahaja Yoga Meditation. It is a spontaneous method to awaken this inner energy. This awakening can then te passed on to others, without the necessity of paying money, acquiring a diploma, or becoming a disciple. "Like a candle that is lit can light another candle."
Shri Mataji maintained that there is innate energy (Kundalini) within every human being, and it can be spontaneously awakened. She emphasized that this awakening described as self-realization, cannot be purchased. Money has never been charged, nor will it be, for the experience of self-realization or for the teaching of Sahaja Yoga mediation.
The inner balance and stress-reduction that accompanies the practice of Sahaja Yoga meditation have already benefited hundreds of thousands worldwide. The ability to quickly and easily activate our innate energy - and experience its benefits - differentiates Sahaja Yoga from other forms of meditation. with practice, individuals are able to direct their own energy and redress mental, physical and emotional imbalances to achieve a state of well-being, serenity, and fulfillment.
In addition to Sahaja Yoga, which is now established in more than 100 countries, Shri Mataji founded a non-governmental organization for destitute women and children, several international schools teaching a holistic curriculum, health clinics offering treatment through Sahaja Yoga meditation techniques, and an arts academy to revitalize the classical skills of dance, music, and painting.
Shri Mataji is the author of a book called, Meta Modern Era. The book offers a candid description of the problems of the world today as well as detailed solutions for overcoming them.
"There will never be peace in the world
